Design Engineer, Bournemouth, £50,000 

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of electro mechanical systems, from design and specification, through to test and verification. You will need strong technical knowledge, as well as problem solving, communication and project life-cycle knowledge.

This role will either suit a Senior Design Engineer, or Design Engineer who is looking for progress

Senior Design Engineer responsibilities will include (or Design Engineer will include some of the below):

  • Confident in the design of components and assemblies, and selection and specification of proprietary components considering technical requirement and practical supply limitations

  • Creating new designs and improving existing

  • Awareness of project and technical risk identification and management techniques throughout project lifecycle

  • Experience with Finite element analysis of isotropic materials, definition of boundary conditions and load-cases appropriate to the technical requirement and mitigation of identified risks. Validation of FEA may also be required

  • Generation of an accurate CAD BoM and support and maintenance of the company MRP BoM (Navision)

  • Design and execution of experiments, validation and verification activities to support concepts, simulation activities, and validate performance

  • Familiar with the assessment of compliance against specification for both bought in and internally developed products and sub-systems

Design Engineer knowledge & experience:

  • Experience using Iventor, SolidWorks or a similar software

  • Knowledge and expertise of Engineering

  • Excellent communication, numerical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to produce work consistently to a high standard within tight deadlines

  • Ability to prioritise and manage a diverse and busy workload, including simultaneous projects in parallel

  • Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams & Outlook  

  • A creative approach for generating new ideas
