Rubicon are working with a medium/large engineering company locally to recruit a Production Manager to join their team. The client is well known for their specialist methods to produce high precision metal components for a wide range of industries that include, Aerospace & Defence, Automotive, Medical and various others.    

Reporting into the Operations Manager the main purpose of the Production Manager is to lead the Production Departments to safely deliver Customer requirements with the correct quality and quantity of products on time and to target cost, meeting daily production targets and adherence to company standards and procedures.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and motivate team members across the Production Departments, mentoring and encouraging them to achieve results which meet targets and objectives as well as support the Company values.
  • Motivate and develop direct reports by setting, agreeing and reviewing individual and business objectives and KPIs to encourage the achievement of goals.
  • Lead and Coordinate resolutions to immediate problems, coordinating and communicating cross functionally and with the Production Team and other support functions such as Maintenance, Quality and Process Engineering to implement immediate containment actions, and establish longer term preventative actions through the Team.
  • Agree, monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators such as Safety, Yield, Labour, and On Time Delivery for the Production Team to support the in meeting its business operating profit.
  • Formulate, agree and implement a Production Plan up to six months ahead to meet anticipated business requirements.
  • Pro-actively research, review and recommend new opportunities to improve Production processes and capacity to drive up business operating profit. Help produce Capital Expenditure proposals that invest in the business with this aim in mind.
  • Build long term relationships with key stakeholders and clients to support the efficient running of the business
  • Ensure company Policies such as Health & Safety, Quality and HR policies are adhered to.
  • Act as a role model for Company standards of behaviour and values.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience within a world class engineering or manufacturing company, ideally electromechanical processing industry.
  • Strong leadership skills – the ability to balance achieving challenging targets for quality, cost and delivery as well as profit and return on capital.
  • Successful track record of Managing and Leading a Production Operation with upward of 40 staff across a number of shifts in a fast moving demand based manufacturing business.
  • Demonstrable understanding of business finance, (P&L and Balance Sheets) and terminology.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt with an understanding of and track record of making improvements using Continuous Improvement / Lean / Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Educated to Bachelor degree level, or equivalent level of experience, ideally in the electrochemical Processing industry.
